The one and only performance of Purple State Purple Haze occurred Saturday, November 5th, three days before the fateful election. Here is a full-length recording of the performance. While its original intent—writing a script using verbatim interviews on how people related to the U.S. political climate leading up to the Presidential Election—was certainly time sensitive, we hope the messages are not. This performance is an attempt to imitate, satirize, and make sense of the wilderness of the media coverage and anxiety that surround this election. This is not “The Daily Show,” where you can laugh, feel affirmed, and move on with the same convictions you came in. This is an attempt—through music, interviews, and staging—to be jarring and raw.
