Alex Pabarcius, also known as ‘Bathrobe Boy,’ talks about his unique set of interests

Where are you from and what do you study?

I was born and raised in London, England. I’m currently leaning towards film and economics as a double major.

What is The Leviathan?

The Leviathan is the bi-semester art magazine on campus. It functions to promote student-produced creative work in a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing fashion. The magazine depends upon student engagement so we really value each of your submissions. Submit any and all of your creative endeavors to leviathan.magazine@gmail.com. It can be in the form of drawings, pithy statements, paintings, photos, sculptures, poetry, prose; anything really.

What are your goals for the magazine?

To continue to push the boundaries of what an art magazine can be while refining all that it already does. This has taken on many forms such as re-hauling the website, changing the design approach, and experimenting with our printing options including fold out posters, reflective paper, and book sleeves.

What do you enjoy most being Editor-in-Chief?

I most enjoy the ability to actualize my own ideas and visions.

IMG_0198I hear you wear a bathrobe. What inspired this style?

It wasn’t so much an inspiration as it was a realization on how criminally underrated the bathrobe is. It’s a travesty, really. I mean, what is there to dislike about the bathrobe? The insouciant elegance of its flowing garmentry? The decadent comfort of terry cloth? Its sophisticated silhouette? It really has it all, but not in the way a tuxedo t-shirt has both style and convenience. If you’re reading this I really urge you to invest in a nice bathrobe. Wear it outside, let it breathe, and together we can help free it from its imprisoning connotations as simply a “toweling textile.”

Do you have more than one bathrobe?

One bathrobe is more than enough for any person as they need considerable amounts of care and attention. Love your bathrobe and your bathrobe will love you back.

Where is the weirdest place he has worn the bathrobe?

The weirdest place I wore my bathrobe was a nightclub in Austria.

What are some of your favorite hobbies and passions?

I’m very interested in all things visual whether it’s in the form of photography, film, or design.

When does the next issue of The Leviathan come out?

The next issue of The Leviathan will come out on the third week of Block 8. It’s going to be bigger and better than anything we’ve done before. Tell your friends, mom, uncle, father’s uncle, and that neighbor you never speak to.

What has been your favorite block break of your Colorado College career?

Of the few Block Breaks I’ve experienced, my favorite so far would have to be when I travelled back home to see friends and family.
