The first game, a 6-0 victory, against Schreiner University on Friday, saw Colorado College bring the full force of their talent to the field. The game was largely controlled by the bench, who combined for five goals and five assists.

“Friday night was a pretty successful night for men’s soccer, a week of prep and practice brought results from anyone who was asked to play in the game,” Reed Schaefer ’22 said. “For the first time this year everyone played [and] everyone did their role when they got on the field – because of it we won 6-0 that game.”

The Tigers next game promised a challenge as they faced off against SCAC rival Trinity University.

Kel Felton ’22, the starting goalkeeper for the Tigers, recalls the game this way; “In the game, we knew first half it was gonna be a pretty tight game, they are always a tough opponent. By half time it was zero-zero; there weren’t any shots that were special, but their offense is pretty talented…”

The first half saw the Tigers in a draw against Trinity, however, the second half of the game would be much trickier.

“They scored quickly,” goalkeeper Kel Felton ’22 said. “Right from there we raised the intensity, we quickly got in their end…we tired them out which led to the Penalty Kick.”

CC defeated Trinity 2-1, pulling out an important victory to push the team higher up in the rankings.

The Tigers play their final conference game against Johnson & Wales University at 3 p.m. on Friday on Stewart Field.
