Rock on the Rocks

Situated in Morrison, Colo., Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is a prime place to enjoy some of Colorado’s best concerts. Before even coming to Colorado, I recall seeing spectacular photos on social media platforms of some of my favorite artists performing there. Immediately in awe of the remarkable views, I put it on my bucket list as a place to visit.

Last year, I got my first Red Rocks experience at Icelantic Winter on the Rocks. I saw both Damian Marley and Major Lazer. This year’s Winter on the Rocks lineup is sporting Adventure Club and Big Grams—a duo of Big Boi and Phantogram. Not only will this be the first Red Rocks concert of the year, but this will also be one of the first times many people get to see Big Grams perform. “Fell in the Sun” is a good track to listen to if you are considering whether or not to see them live.

Right after Winter on the Rocks, there’s a bit of a break to thaw out. The next concert comes on Apr. 19, when Red Rocks is hosting 420 Eve on the Rocks featuring Ghostface Killah & Raekwon, Joey Bada$$, the Underachievers, and a few other special guests. As a hip-hop lover and an Underachivers a fan, I imagine this will be quite an event especially for those who want to experience a hip-hop concert under the stars. Beyond that show, the May through July lineup has few highlights. The few acts to look forward to are Papadosio, Shakey Graves, Chromio & Jamie XX, Odesza, and Portugal the Man with the Glass Animals.

One big concert to look forward to is the Tame Impala and Mac Demarco concert on Wednesday, Aug. 31. After the release of Tame Impala’s “Currents,” which received highly acclaimed reviews, this concert will be a great opportunity to hear content from the album as well as some of their older tracks. With tickets beginning at $45 plus service fees, this will be an event you don’t want to miss.
